Business summary

Our vision at STUDENTSHOES.CO.UK is clear and simple:

To be the first place every single student in the UK goes to for all his or her footwear.

We are a website by students for students

We have chosen to name our site appropriately, stating our goal from the outset, and a name that we believe is our ultimate branding tool and value adder. It is a simple name, easy to remember and does exactly what it says.

STUDENTSHOES.CO.UK is working to become the No.1 retailer, sourcing the current fashion in footwear at the best prices from around the world and promoting them to the UK student online market. Students need search no further and waste no more time, the best student prices and discounts in the UK will be in one place.

Every student will know that this is the No.1 place to go for footwear even before they go to the high street. If they see a shoe they like on the high street, they will go home and search our site again to see if they can find the same thing for cheaper or something similar for a better price.

As well as selling our own stock on the site, we want to give all retailers of all kinds of footwear the chance for huge exposure to the biggest niche market in the UK, which is nearly every person below the age of 25, students. We will do this by enabling them to sell their products on our site, of which we will take a commission for each sale. Those retailers which decide not to advertise their student discounts with us will simply miss out as students will just find better deals via STUDENTSHOES.CO.UK.

We need investors who are ready to add their experience of online retail to our company, so that we can give a greater customer experience and greater product value.

Nick Robertson, the ASOS chief executive, has said that clothing is becoming increasingly an online purchase in the same way as DVDs and CDs. We know that this is particularly present in terms of student sales, as students looking for the best deals and the cheapest prices shop online. Mr Robertson said: “I think what happened to DVDs and CDs is already happening to footwear — people simply buy it online. The high street is not a very positive place to be and it's going to be very tough for non-internet-only retailers. We expect to see the kind of growth we're experiencing for at least the next two years. Our numbers are getting bigger and bigger. We are not a small company any more.”

Now is the time for a company like STUDENT SHOES to make a move into the online market and solidify itself as the No.1 student footwear supplier.

We look forward to hearing from investors who are serious about growing this business.
